Juniors and Seniors interested in Washington University: Alan Ramsay, Class of 2009, will be at EHS Wednesday March 10 during 2nd hour to talk with students interested in attending Washington University in St. Louis. If you would like to visit with Alan, please sign up in the counseling center by Monday March 8.

You must use Naviance to access scholarships. (http://connection.naviance.com/ehsne) Signs will be posted in your TA, Senior English class, library, computer lab, senior balcony, and the counseling center. Please see your counselor if you have any questions.

Seniors interested in Metropolitan Community College should check to see if they quality to apply for the Presidential or Board of Govenors' Scholarships. If selected, the scholarships pay for at least 1/2 tuition and up to full-tuition for 2 years. The scholarship is on Naviance.
Anyone interested in quiz bowl is welcome to bring his/her lunch to room C141 (Mrs. Johnson's room, in the D wing) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays when it is perfectly acceptable to answer questions with your mouth full of food!
COUNSELING CENTER
PLEASE NOTE: The original dates to finalize 2010-2011 student schedules have been changed. Student schedule changes will NOT take place on March 15-17. Another date will be announced before the end of the year. At that time, students/parents will have an opportunity to discuss schedule changes. Decisions regarding course offerings at both high schools were made based upon fall registration numbers. As such, schedule changes will be minimal. Students will not be allowed to make schedule changes outside of these days. There will be one more drop/add opportunity in August.
Creative Center OPEN HOUSE: Saturday, March 20th from 11 am to 3 pm. Come and see if an Art career is right for you.

You will learn more about undergraduate and graduate majors, tour campus, see program demonstrations, learn about financial aid and visit with current students.

Careers:
Military branches visit EHS at least once a month, usually during the lunch hours. Any student can bring their lunch down to visit with the reps during their lunch hour.

Leadership Opportunities:
9th-11th Grade Students: If you are interested in being nominated for the 2010 Congressional Youth Leadership Council, please see Mrs. Merrihew in the Counseling Center by Wednesday, March 10th. Students must demonstrate outstanding scholastic merit and leadership potential. Once you are nominated, you will have to go through an application process and there is a fee involved. The conference will take place in Washington DC.
College Highlights:
South Dakota State University will be hosting "Fridays at SDSU" for Seniors and "Saturdays at SDSU" for Juniors. Check the website www.sdstate.edu (keyword: Campus Visits) for details. Note: SDSU offers reduced tuition for Nebraska residents.
West Point Summer Leaders Seminar offers juniors a chance to gain a better understanding of the academic opportunities at a service academy. Applications will be taken until April 1. The Elkhorn Baseball Association is currently accepting applications for youth umpires for the 2010 Summer Slugger’s League.
Applicants should be 14 years or older as of May 1, 2010.
