3rd Grade Progress Report
You will see different marks to assess your child’s progress during the year. Sometimes, papers will just have an indication of the number correct or the number missed, a comment, or even a smiley face! We document your child’s progress in a number of ways, including assignment scores, observations, anecdotal comments, and district and state assessments.
In third grade, each quarter is marked separately. You may not see your child moving from "/" to a "/+" to a "+" during the year since our content changes. You may see your child staying at a "/" during the school year, indicating expected, satisfactory progress in the content during that particular quarter.
Each quarter your child will be evaluated on the following areas:
*Personal/Social Development
*Reading
*Writing
*Speaking & Listening
*Math
*Social Studies
*Science
On the progress reports you’ll see the following scores showing progress:

/+ Progressing Above Expectations Student understands and applies the skill/concept; minimal adult/peer support helps clarify any errors or misunderstandings (2)= 92% - 85%
/ Making Expected Progress Student understands and applies the skill/concept; adult/peer support and more repetitions clarify errors or misunderstandings (3) = 84% - 77%

***Also during the year, your child will take a number of state standards assessments. These assessments are reported locally and to the state. They are also used to indicate progress for “No Child Left Behind”. These are tests that can’t come home! We will communicate your child’s assessment results to you.
